Smt. Manjula Rangarajan, nominated as part-time Chairman of Indian Railway Finance Corporation Limited is an IRAS officer of 1983 batch. She holds the charge of Financial Commissioner/Rlys. w.e.f. 01/11/2019. In addition, she has charge of Additional Member(Finance) & Additional Member (Budget) also. Smt. Rangarajan has masters in Sociology and currently pursuing Ph.D from Bharathidasan University on the subject “A Study on Women in Leadership in Indian Railways”. She also has to her credit publication of ‘Collection of Essays in Hindi’ and other academic papers.
In her distinguished career as a Railway Officer she has experience of working in various capacities in Accounts and Finance Departments of several zonal railways and Production Units i.e. NFR, NR, SWR, ICF/Chennai and COFMOW etc. She has worked on Railway Divisions, Workshops and Construction Projects also. She was Principal Financial Adviser of Southern Railway prior to being appointed as Additional Member/Finance in Railway Board. She has rich experience in all areas of Railway’s financial management and general administration. She worked as Divisional Railway Manager Tiruchirapalli and was the first woman Divisional Railway Manager of the Division.
She was instrumental in computerization of various areas such as project accounting, inventory control, production planning and control, financial accounting and human resource management. She is also an Associate of Charted Institute of Arbitrators in London.
She has also attended various training on Management and Public Private Partnership in India and abroad at Institutes like RSC/Vadodara, Rotman School of Management, Toronto, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Singapore and Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburg, USA.
